We are a purpose-built facility in the heart of Drouin, Victoria centrally located next to Drouin Primary School. Our studios are spacious and are filled with natural light. Here, children have the opportunity to learn through play with stimulating resources and materials where they can explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. As a Cook you will be required to plan and prepare, in consultation with the Service Manager, a menu for all children which is nutritional, well balanced and suited to the dietary needs of the children. Our menu’s incorporate a variety of cultural backgrounds and are reflective of nutritional and allergy guidelines, allowing young bodies to thrive both mentally and physically. Essential duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area
- Handles, stores, labels, and rotates all products properly and in accordance to applicable state laws
- Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, recipes, policies and procedures
- Making sure all ingredients and produce used and served to customers are good quality
- Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period
- Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen station
- Manage finances within a budget
- Perform office procedures
What you’ll need:
- Food Handling Certificate and Food Supervisor Certificate
- Previous experience as a Childcare Cook
- Certificate III in Cookery
- Current & Valid Working with Children Check
- First Aid and CPR certificates including Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
- Experience in Menu planning, budgeting, stock ordering & control
- Experience in dietary and allergy safe requirements.
- Certificate III or Diploma in Children’s Services would also be highly regarded
