Meet Talia! A trainee from Sparrow Early Learning Tewantin.

We’re proud to introduce Talia, our Trainee of the Month!

Having recently completed her Certificate III in childcare through the Sparrow Traineeship Program while working at Sparrow Early Learning in Tewantin, Talia is a shining example of dedication and passion in the childcare industry.

Now, with the ongoing support of the SEL Tewantin team, she is looking to join our traineeship program once again and complete her Diploma in Early Childhood.

Talia’s journey embodies a spirit of excellence and commitment to inspire, nurture and grow young minds. From the moment she joined us as a trainee, Talia has showcased enthusiasm, initiative, and a genuine love for nurturing young minds.

Not only did she excel in her studies, but she consistently surpassed expectations, demonstrating maturity and dedication well beyond her years. Talia, your achievements inspire us all, and we’re thrilled to have you as part of The Sparrow family!

How did you discover your passion for working with children?

I wasn’t sure what I expected when I started the traineeship, but while studying and working towards the completion of my Cert III I learned that showing my face and making an appearance to the children has been the most passionate and rewarding part of learning. Showing up made an impact towards the children’s day to day interactions, which made me so passionate about what I do and the impact it has towards the children.

What is your favourite game / activity for children, which is unique to Sparrow Early Learning Tewantin?

Definitely has to be going to bush kindy down the back of the centre. Being right on the lake behind the centre is so beautiful. Taking a group of children back there, with some blankets and being one with nature. We are extremely lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

What is your favourite food?

Definitely has to be pizza or tacos, I can’t get enough of them.

Can you share a funny anecdote or staff activity shared by staff at Sparrow Early Learning Tewantin?

Definitely has to be the little games our well-being leader creates for us to share with the other staff members. It’s beautiful to get to know one another with these little games and for us to connect and be united.

Tell us something about you that some people may not know.

I love getting up early and going for a walk and watching the sunrise on the beach, with the occasional swim if it isn’t too cold. I love being in nature, I can’t get enough of it.

Can you share a bit about your experience with the traineeship program? What aspects have you found most rewarding?

Learning about all the different aspects of of becoming an early childhood educator, as well as learning all the bits and bobs that come with it. Having that hands on experience has definitely made me more aware and to have those connections with children to be so rewarding.
